The year was 1950...

And wedding bells were ringing...
Mark and I are hosting my mother and father in laws' 60th wedding anniversary here at our home next Saturday July 17th. I won't be posting until after the event so as to keep an element of surprise (my MIL does fly-by's on my blog to see what I'm up to:)
So...shhhhhh...its a secret covert operation here at La Bella Vie...stay tuned for more...
Update, even though this is an older post, I'm participating in Angelic Accents linky party hosted by Stephanie!

(speakers on please: )

  6. Dear MIL...you sure are an elegant bride, hope you had your speakers on for this, its your song of the day!
I heard a rumor you can still fit in your wedding dress.
Well I don't mean to brag or make anyone feel bad, but I can still fit in the earrings I wore in high school!
    See you Saturday at 2:30...

  10. That is such a nice tribute to your parents. All the photos turned out so well. Great memories for you and them. I am sure they will be pleased with their surprise. Trust me if my son still lived in Portland, I would be honored to visit and have tea with you.I could also share with you the story about my one and only trip to visit them.

  11. And yes Louie Armstrong was one of our favorites. He was in Portland many , many years ago (seems like everything was years ago) and he was appearing at our biggest (at that time) shopping center so we drove in to see him.I can't remember much about his apperance tho. Just that we enjoyed him each time we heard or saw him on TV.
    Love MIL again.

  15. Awe shucks! Mark and I wouldn't have it any other way for a 60th wedding anniversary.

As for Marie, I agree with Betty, its not too late to jump on a plane and be here. It would complete the beautiful memory of Betty and Arnold's special day. After all; this anniversry will never be here again...

  19. AWE!!! Give my love to Aunt Betty and Uncle Arnold! What neat pictures! I recognize so much in these photos... the memory of Betty and Arnold from when we were younger, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Alice and Lawrence's (my grandma and grandpa) house and surroundings ...

    Have a Wonder-FULL celebration! Happy 60 years!

  20. You're so sweet, Terry~ Thanks for the invite, but my trip to the great Pacific Northwest was somewhat spontaneous- here for a week- I go back to Texas on a red eye the day after tomorrow, July 15, so won't be able to stop by the celebration this weekend. I sent a message to Aunt Betty and Uncle Arnold wishing them Happy Anniversary and sent my love via email.

I DO HOPE that SOMEDAY (soon) you and I get to meet in person; afterall, we are family (by marriage). You are a sweet, kind heart and it's fun getting to know you in bloggy-world.

    Blessings~

  25. This is Snooks, Mark's cousin, from Arizona. First let me say that I love the Louis Armstrong song, we played it at my husband's father's funeral and our daughter calls it "Papa's song". Looking at the beautiful pictures, I so wish we could have been there! What a wonderful blog you have, I'm anxious to explore and see the rest of it! Aunt Betty and Uncle Arnold, I hope you have the BEST anniversary ever!

  26. Dear Terry, I'm so glad that you were able to join us for the Wedding Blog Party! I can't think of a nicer tribute to love and to weddings than to do something as special as hosting your MIL and FIL's anniversary party! Weren't they such a handsome couple? Love your MIL's gown, how it draped and such a pretty neckline! The groom looks so happy in every pic, too! I adore vintage wedding photography and these are just some of my new fav pics!!

My out of town relatives are gone now so I'm enjoying spending all the time I want to visit my friend's wedding posts now! Such fun!
