Confessions of Happy Housewife...

and I know what to do...after all, June Cleaver's lesson's didn't fall on deaf ears...
well except maybe Ward's...
first I'll catch up on washing load after load, after load of filthy, dirty, stinking cloths...
sure are a lot of socks in here...its no wonder they disappear,
I think housewives hide them so they don't have to really DO anything with them.
But being the creative gal I am, I'll think of something to do with them...
then I'll do the Mt. Everest size pile after pile of wrinkled up cloths,
except the socks, smart housewives know socks don't need ironing...
oopsie, a little scorch-ie-poo on that shirt...oh well his tie will cover it...
then slave over this contraption in between all the enjoyment I've already had today...
(bet that iron can double as a browning device for the top of this casserole)

so that the little Mister can come home to a lovely home cooked supper...
First coarse, Cream of Dirty Sock Soup
(told you I was creative and would know what to do with all those dirty socks;)
then the entree;
"Tuna Prune Surprise" Casserole :)

then I'll do dishes so the hubby can go out and have a little bit of relaxation while I clean up the mess...
with a smile and my pearls I might add...
my next day off, I think I'll call a friend...
and get all gussied up...
and head to a foo-foo-shee-shee spa...it's a lot of work being a housewife and I commend all of you that have the luxury of doing it full-time!

(PS, I have to admit this was tongue in cheek to use my funny picture collection. The reality is; I've loved being at home today and look forward to doing this full-time at some point. And to think, Mr. La Bella Vie didn't even complain about the Cream Of Sock Soup. He actually said he liked the tangy flavor! :)

  2. How funny! I just love Lucy and Ethel!! They could get into the most devious messes!! My favorite is at the chocolate factory!

I have to confess, I LOVE being a stay at home housewife!! I love to cook for the hubby and round up the kids to get them to do their chores. All the bad and good has been great! Of course, it isn't for everyone. Since I have been a career working mom and a stay at home mom, I am happier at home!!

Have a wonderful weekend! I made some changes to my comments so hopefully they work now. I signed out and then went to my blog to make sure it worked. Let me know if you see anything else!!

  5. I truly believe its the hardest job ever! And, what I know for sure; my chores really got in the way of my blogging time which was why I had to do the "pre-made pictures"! What's up with that?! June Cleaver always looked like she and the Beav were just having a leisurely time of it! Ok so she was a pearl wearing delusional housewife, but at least she got to be home:)

  6. LOL! Thank you for a very good laugh.

I don't even want to think about the laundry and ironing that's piled up but I do wish there was a cute little apron in the pile.

  7. So cute! I love being at home! I don't know what I am going to do when the last two chicks leave...but for now I am just going to enjoy the time I have left! Maybe one of these guys will give me grandchildren before I am too old to enjoy them!

    God bless!

  8. Bonjour Terry,
What a marvelous post. Lucy and Ethel are the best. You have a great collection of vintage images - being "at home" is the such a wonderful privilege and is the best job on earth. I have to confess I thought June Cleaver was fabulous - after my Mother that is, who made it all look so easy!
I found your blog via your comment at Falling off a High Heeled Life. The name grabbed my attention. I'm a follower and will be back soon.
    Bon week-end,
    Mimi

  11. What a great job you have done on this blog! I just found your comment on TexasMom. You can borrow Grandpa Muffett's watermelon wisdom anytime. I can't pick good ones for love nor money, so I always try to have him along for that.

  12. I love your vintage housewife art! What a hoot! I'm sure glad I didn't grow up in that era. I'm always interested in trying recipes that my fellow bloggers post, but your Cream of Sock Soup... I think I'll pass on that one. :-)

  13. LOVE IT. I enjoy the outside world, but there is just something amazing about doing things for my fam...when I want to that is. Today I made 3 batches of Sand Plum (wild) Jelly. I didn't wear my pearls, but did have on a beautiful apron. The jelly turned out beautifully!

  14. For a apron for you ladies that wish you had one come to our "Apron & Tea" party to raise funds to help a local food bank next spring. You can bid and get a cute apron.Terry had two postings on it, I think in May or April.
    Love you all, MIL

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Random.org is incredibly easy to use, you just put in your low number and high number and it picks one for you. No muss, no fuss, and no clean-up.
