Sweet Nostalgia

Hi everyone, I'm fashionably late in joining the party at
Susan's "Deck The Halls Party" for her 98th Metamorphosis Monday on December 6th...better late than never I suppose but we've been busy having fun and Christmasing over the weekend.

I bought this little antique Secretary in 1979 and at the time I bought it, I was told "she" was about 100 years old then so now...well, that makes her really, really old, like about 121 years!
Also when I first purchased it, it was painted black and you couldn't see any of the beautiful detail until we stripped it many years ago.
Every year I have fun decorating it and this is what I came up with today. I think it looks much prettier up close and personal unfortunately my camera doesn't begin to do it justice, but you get the idea...enjoy...

Thanks Susan for hosting another great party, you're the best!

  7. Terry- What an absolutely gorgeous piece. I think she is probably even a bit older than that. I'll bet she is from the 1860's-1870's. However old she is she has held her age well!;>) Beautiful...and your display there is gorgeous too! Hugs-Diana

  8. Hi Terry, I also have a very similar antique secretary curio that we found last year. I had been looking forever for a cherry or mahogany one and settled for one that is dark oak, and I love it. I usually don't do anything with it for Christmas. I have teacups and some of my china pieces in it; but you have just inspired me to decorate mine. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you're having a great week. I got to see Elizabeth, her mom and grandma on Saturday.
