A Taste of Something good...

Well its been a while since the premiere episode of this year's hottest new show,
When the show began, I had a working PC to film current episodes but then my sweet
Ruby Dell came down with the "vapors" and ended up at "University PC hospital"...severe virus they said so we had to stop filming for a while. Lots of work has taken place on the film set in the meantime but for now, I thought maybe I'd give you a taste of something a bit more appetizing. We started our "dream kitchen" not only because it was twenty years old and very tired looking but because of these beautiful inspiration kitchens below, all taken from many different sources...enjoy a taste of what's to come in the final episodes of

Bon Appétit!

"Ruby Dell"

‎"Ruby Dell", my laptop (so named for her lovely ruby color and her Dell surname)

{source from Google images}

is at PC University hospital so I'm using the hub's laptop..."Mr. Toshiba PC".

{source from Google images}

I'm so distraught and this is so difficult because I have no personal relationship with Mr. Toshiba. Shh...don't tell (but between you and I) I know Mr. Toshiba, PC and I are just being polite to each other right now because we're being forced to share our time together. Really, if the truth be told, I don't think he likes me at all, not accustom to a women's touch I'm sure... so my time posting may be limited for now until my sweet Ruby Dell is out of the PC hospital...can someone pass the tissue please...sniff, sniff...

For those of you that are waiting for the exciting episode of
"The Destroyers"...stay tuned, hopefully by next week I'll have my sweet Ruby Dell back home and all the pretty pictures she has in her memory...

"The Destroyers" episode #3

Well last weeks episode #2 we had the hole in the ceiling which quickly turned from this...

simple little hole...
to this big fat mess...

and I fear it can only get worse...

Oh heaven help me...it can definitely get worse...

yep it's a lot worse and I know it will only get harder as more of my kitchen gets ripped out...
as the saying goes; be careful what you wish for...
Oh dear oh me oh my...this is NOT what I envisioned!!!

The Destroyers...episode # 2

So for those of you that were at the premiere episode of  "The Destroyers" here's episode #2...

this is where we left off...packing all of my crap...uh collectibles...

so that we could start cutting the big hole where the new cook top hood vent will go...now remember we had the old Jenn-Air down draft that just had to go?

the hole is cut and that old upper cabinet is a goner...it was good while it lasted but in order for the hood to go in, we have to replace all the upper cabinets...

there's Mr. La Bella Vie man-handling those babies...in his other life he's a cyclist so he has the power to rip-tear...

 Off the wall they go...

and there's the cyclist...I call him skinny, he says "fit for hill climbing"...

bye-bye...its been a good twenty years but its time to part ways...the cabinet not the hubs!

 out the door they go...

and the wall is bare...with a tiny hole that didn't stay that way...

making way for the new construction...

now remember this hole in the ceiling, stay tuned because it'll be a featured attraction in the next upcoming episode of...

The Destroyers...

What else do you do on a sunny Sunday...rip apart a perfectly good twenty year old kitchen of course!

the nook that the hubs built...it gets to stay but the two side windows will be replaced!

But as you can see the rest of the kitchen...not so perfect after all, actually its down right ugly, tired and outdated!

And needs a major face lift and demo of that disgusting, ugly tile that was "oh so popular" twenty years ago when we built our house...

the grout is beyond nasty and the edge of the counters are just awful...let me repeat myself...AWFUL AND DID I SAY UGLY!!!!!!

and that old Jenn-Air downdraft cook top which was again "oh so popular" twenty years ago has seen its day and has got to go. Now the thing is so old, you can't really even get replacement parts for it, but who'd want to anyway!

So in comes..."THE DESTROYERS"...that's us all cleaned up after a bath and when we're not "DESTROYING" things...

anyway back to the topic at hand...an ugly kitchen and a face lift...

Get out some of our favorite demo tools...I still can't find that sledge hammer I used for THIS home renovation project! I think the hubs buried it on our property somewhere!

Get out the packing material and boxes to pack up all the crap antique Depression glass I've hoarded collected through the years...I swear I could be on one of those episodes of "Hoarders"...scary but true!

so that we can start this major kitchen remodel...

stay tuned for the next upcoming, exciting episodes of...

Thought for the day...

Always remember what's most important in life. It will not be the "stuff" you accumulate, it will not be how many Face book friend requests' you receive, it will not be how many followers you eventually have on your blog.
All those superficial things fade away and what you once "perceived" as friends will have fallen by the wayside...

Truly the most important things in life are not "things" at all.
Its is our health and the love of family that matter the most.
Without that you have nothing...

The above picture is something I made a few months ago to put on my "vision board", not as a way to "see myself" but as a way to "remind me" each day what is important and to never lose sight of that...
I am posting a link HERE to one of my favorite POEMS that I have on my vision board as well. It is a wonderful reminder to all of us and I hope you enjoy the message as much as I have through the years.

A Wordy kind of gal and a tutorial...

I have always had a love of words and writing...see that's me below at about age two, I loved writing then and love it even more now!

I think that's the reason blogging has been a fun and creative outlet for me. Also, because I've met so many really great people and so many of you out there have the same passions; beautiful living and a zest for all things creative and expressive!
So today's post is in honor of words, literature, creativity and in this case...a bit of a "mishap" from this little darling..."Pearl the girl"

Yes she looks innocent enough alright...well she's got you fooled! She can be a bit of a stinker and can get into mischief and trouble like you wouldn't believe!
Here's proof...she wanted to see what was on the table and pulled the tablecloth down...on my birthday!

Which brings me to this, my love of prose and another Pearl escapade...
Many years ago while traveling with the hubs we wandered into an antique shop and I came across an old Mark Twain book. In the book was a poem written by him that I knew would HAVE to be in my house somewhere, someday.

One Christmas I got my wish; sweet Mr. La Bella Vie gave me the poem as a Christmas gift in the form of Wallwords which is a rub-on applique that I promptly applied on the wall of my foyer that you see above.
What you can't see is the table below it that my little stinker kitty, Pearl likes to sit on...and apparently pick off the letters in the name...Mark Twain!
If I didn't love her so much, I would have booted her to the moon!

So...I had to re-order poor ol' Mr. Twain's name and re-apply it which brings me to the very brief but informative tutorial of this post...applying the words to the wall...
Get out your favorite laser-level, tape the words to the wall and rub on with the tongue depressor that comes with the words...and your done! That simple!
Here's a few more examples of some of the Wallwords I've done throughout the house...
"Wine makes every meal an occasion and everyday more civilized"
(click pics to enlarge)

And last but not least...you gotta make the best of anything in life no matter what it may be. So the last place you'd expect to see "Wallwords"...the entry door to the kitty-potty-box. The inside pet door goes through the cupboard door under the sink in my laundry room, then goes through another pet door in the outside wall into the garage and into in a screened-in enclosed area for the little "Principessa" of whom would rather powder her nose in privacy thank you very much!

And on that note, I have come to the "end" (pun intended) of this highly technical post!
Have a great day everyone!

Linking up with Susan for another Metamorphosis Monday #138...go see all the other great MM's out there!
