On being a Mother...

On Mother's Day many are blessed to be mother and child and celebrate the day in the love they have for one another.
For others, the joy of motherhood is a much different celebration.
It is the celebration of the love we share with our beloved pets, our furry children of whom we share an unbelievable, unconditional love.
The love we have for each other is as deep and no less than mother and child.
The love we share with our animal children is immeasurable, endless, knows no boundaries and is powerful beyond measure.

Thank you for giving me the happiest Mother's Day my cute little girls, Emmy and Pearl
Love, Mom

Angels in Disguise

On August 16th, 2009 we had to say goodbye to our sweet "Little Sister" or better known as; "Sissy Girl" after seventeen years of her being a part of our family. It was the most difficult and heart breaking decision Mark and I have ever had to make. Nothing prepares you for saying goodbye to the "fur baby" that has become part of your family and part of your every day norm, part of your daily routine...nothing.
However, when that day came, we both knew we had to be as good a friend to our Sissy Girl as she had been to us for all those years. We knew if we kept her hanging on, it would be for our own selfish reasons and not because it was in her best interest.
Knowing this, we said goodbye to our companion of seventeen years that day.

Though as sad and as difficult as that day was, our Sissy Girl was a great teacher in so many valuable lessons. "Kitten Parenting 101" was her favorite chapter in the book . So when the day came for new kitty babies to adopt us, we remembered all the lessons she taught us and welcomed these two sweet sisters into our home.

Now if ever there was merit to the phrase "everything happens for a reason" this would be proof of that; according to C.A.T. (Cat Adoption Team) these two little girls were born
August 16th 2009!

Meet Pearl and Emmie!
Emmie's name is because of the little "M" on her forehead.

meet Miss Emmie "Bibs" as a wee little girl with such big ears and beautiful eyes!

finally she grew into those ears and still those gorgeous eyes!

into the loveliest lady...

and still oh so proud of that regal bib...

and here is little Emmie, such a beautiful grown up gal...

Now meet Miss Pearl "The Little Spitfire" as a wee little girl. She got her name because of the beautiful Pearl grey cashmere sweater she's wearing!
we are certain she is baby of the two sisters,
and yes she is a bit cross-eyed but it makes her even more adorable!

and the sillyest and most playful...

and is down for the count first!

and smiles the most, especially while on my shoulder!
and has grown into the prettiest little girl!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SWEET LITTLE GIRLS!
For your 1st birthday party, you both get Tuna cakes!

The Missing Lady...

Here is the rest of the story for the Lady Head vases that I said I would share later.

This was the email I sent to the gals that shared the day with me...

"I am not in the best frame of mind right now...Yesterday, March 24th I did my ladies luncheon. After cleaning up last night I left some of my beautiful china pieces on the table to lovingly put away the next day. Also I had my new pink (1957) "Lady head vase" that arrived last night from eBay (I purchased her as a gift to myself to add to my growing 1950's collection) she is, to date the most expensive head vase I have ever bought...anyway my *darling* little (butt-head) kittens grabbed hold of the table cloth this morning and pulled everything down, crashing to the floor...all the fine china pieces broke along with my darling new (1957) "Lady head vase"...after my "Norman Bates psycho scream" while holding back the need to puke I burst into tears as the kittens went running the other direction.

The plates were not salvageable in any way but the lady vase surprisingly only broke her neck which can possibly be repaired. I was a frogs-hair away from breaking more than one neck!

As I stood there crying I just kept saying (with Mr. La Bella Vie hugging me)..."they're just things", "they're just things", "they're just things"...

So today didn't start out too well...but yesterday was wonderful..."

{date; March 25th, 2010}

Just for the record, "she" has been at the Head Vase Hospital  since this happened in March. The women that does the repair told me "not to rush her"...OK I won't but I wonder when this little lady will get to come home...she's been in the head injury unit for sometime now...

A Day Off {part one}

Today Mark and I took the day off from work, a rare gift for both of us together. We checked out (click here) The CatNap Inn in Wilsonville, Oregon. This little kitty B&B is where our girls (Emmie and Pearl) will have a relaxing, safe stay while their mom and dad (us) vacation on the Oregon Coast. Though we've had many kind offers for babysitting our girls, we felt it was a huge responsibility for friends and family and yet knew we needed peace of mind while we're trying to relax ourselves.
So this lovely and ideal place came our way by happenstance. We loved the owner, Sidney Adams and her Executive assistant, Kenya and know our girls will too.
